ReelShort App FAQ Your Questions Answered

Getting Started

The model behind short drama apps is a simple one. Tiny vertical episodes are what you watch. The first handful are free. Later ones take coins or a pass. Most confusion traces back to that split. Start with the five answers below.

What counts as a short drama app?

It streams vertical video made for phones. Each series comes in many tiny episodes. ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax and My Drama are the leaders. Plots tend to favor billionaires, revenge and identity reveals. Werewolf romances also have wide popularity. The format reelshortfree.com first appeared in China, where it is called duanju.

How long is each episode?

Most episodes run one to two minutes. 60 to 100 seconds is a common target for Western shoots. A series usually spans 20 to 100 episodes. Married at First Sight has 90 in ReelShort’s listing. Its hit Double Life series lists 60. In length, a full series can match a movie.

Why do episodes stop at cliffhangers?

That is usually where free episodes end. The first 5 to 15 are usually free, according to ReelShort. Industry reporting cites 8 to 10. The paywall tends to land at peak suspense. The business model rests on that timing. It is at the same time a top complaint from viewers.

Who are the owners of ReelShort, DramaBox and My Drama?

ReelShort is owned by Crazy Maple Studio in Sunnyvale, California. That studio is supported by China’s COL Group. Singapore’s StoryMatrix, part of Beijing Dianzhong Technology, runs DramaBox. My Drama is a Holywater app, and Holywater was founded in Kyiv in 2020. Fox Entertainment bought an equity stake in October 2025. ReelShort launched in 2022, DramaBox in 2023.

Can I watch on a browser or a TV?

Yes, within limits. Google, Facebook, Apple, TikTok and email logins all work on ReelShort’s website. The app and the site share your progress. You can get free unlocks only in the app. My Drama is available on Apple TV through its own app. No verified ReelShort TV app turned up in our search.

Costs

The most frequent questions are about money. All figures are US App Store prices as of September 2026. They vary depending on country, platform and promotion. Check the price screen first, every time. Take every number as approximate. Below is what listings show.

Is ReelShort actually free?

Partly, and the free portion is genuine. What people searching “is reel short free” or “is reel short app free” want is the catch. Opening episodes cost nothing. It costs nothing to download. Later episodes need coins or a VIP pass. Watching ads and checking in gets you free coins.

How do coins work?

Coins are the currency that unlocks episodes. ReelShort’s blog puts an episode at around 60 coins. The smallest pack runs roughly $4.99 for 500 coins. Bigger packs add bonus coins. A 7-day check-in streak gets you 100+ coins. Two episodes unlock with one rewarded ad.

Do the coins expire?

That depends on the app. ReelShort says free reward coins usually expire. The coins you paid for do not expire. My Drama handles coins differently. Its terms say coins are forfeited after 12 months of inactivity. Spend reward coins first and keep active.

How much does a weekly pass cost?

About $19.99 a week is the usual US price. It is listed by ReelShort, ShortMax, DramaWave, GoodShort and My Drama. Some apps offer cheaper tiers. ShortMax’s listing shows $9.99, while GoodShort starts around $5.99. These passes all renew on their own. Four weeks you forget about cost four times as much.

Do apps offer monthly or yearly plans?

They exist on some apps. ReelShort’s blog prices a yearly plan at about $199.99. The monthly price differs between pages. That makes the figure unconfirmed. DramaWave shows a monthly price of roughly $36.99. In the US, ShortMax offers weekly passes only.

Can I watch for free, without paying?

Yes, as long as you are patient. Each series’ free opening episodes are the place to start. Unlock more by watching rewarded ads. Don’t break your daily check-in streak. There are also official ReelShort channels on YouTube, TikTok and Dailymotion. Using all four together goes furthest.

Subscriptions and Cancellation

Weekly passes do not stop renewing until you stop them. That comes as a surprise to plenty of people. Cancelling takes little time once you know where. How you paid decides where you cancel. Stores cancel store purchases. Purchases on a website are the company’s to handle.

Will deleting the app cancel my subscription?

No, and this is a common mistake. Apple says removing an app does not stop its subscription. Google says the same about uninstalling. My Drama’s terms repeat that warning. Until you cancel, the pass keeps renewing. Cancel first, delete afterward.

How do I cancel on iPhone?

Begin by opening the Settings app. Tap your name at the top of the screen. Next, select Subscriptions. Choose the short drama app. Tap Cancel, then confirm. Act a day before renewal to be safe.

How do I cancel on Android?

Begin by opening the Google Play Store app. Head to your Subscriptions list. There, select the short drama app. Tap Cancel and work through the prompts. Uninstalling, remember, cancels nothing. To confirm the change, recheck the list.

Can I cancel within the app?

Sometimes, but the store path is safer. An in-app option under About Subscription is mentioned in ShortMax’s terms. For store buyers, they point to App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google control only what they billed. Anyone who bought on the website should contact the company. Screenshot each and every cancellation.

Why was I charged after a free trial?

Trial wording can trip people up. ShortMax’s developer acknowledges that its “free trial” and “24 hours free” labels confused people. Under its terms, passes renew 24 hours before expiry. The same price applies to the renewal. Cancel one day before any trial ends. Then check the store shows it cancelled.

Refunds and Money Back

The refund route depends on who took your money. Google handles Play charges. Apple handles App Store charges. Website charges are handled by the companies. None of these routes guarantees a refund. Each path is mapped in this table.

Where you bought How to cancel Where to seek a refund Watch out for
iPhone (App Store) Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Cancel Apple’s Report a Problem site Deleting the app does not cancel it
Android (Google Play) Google Play, Subscriptions, Cancel Google in the first 48 hours, then the developer Uninstalling alone does not cancel
Website Your account or support at the app company The app company alone Frequently non-refundable, per My Drama’s terms

How do I get an Apple refund?

Start at Apple’s Report a Problem page. Sign in with the Apple ID that paid. Select the charge and give a brief explanation. Apple usually responds within 24 to 48 hours. Apple decides, not the app developer. Also cancel the pass, or it renews.

How do refunds work on Google Play?

Timing matters most here. According to Google, you may get a refund within 48 hours of buying. Request it through Google Play directly. After that window, get in touch with the developer. ReelShort directs users to Profile, then Feedback. When a renewal surprises you, act fast.

What happens with website purchases?

Those are handled by the app company. Neither Apple nor Google can help there. Under My Drama’s terms, web purchases are non-refundable except where law requires. Its terms grant EU and UK users a 14-day withdrawal right. Each other company sets its own rules. Read the terms before you pay online.

Can I get a refund for unused coins?

Usually not, and the terms confirm it. My Drama’s terms call coin purchases final. ShortMax declines refunds, unless its own fault makes a product unusable. Store requests may help with accidental purchases. Until a series hooks you, buy the smallest coin pack. Mistakes then cost less.

Staying Safe from Look-Alike Apps

Confusion over names is everywhere here. Small unrelated apps turn up after misspellings. A few downloads are unsafe. Some sites imitate major brands. Using the real names protects your money. These answers separate the real from the fake.

Is Real Short an app?

No, we could not find one. Real Short is simply ReelShort misspelled. So are “real short app”, “realshot”, “reel shot” and likely “shot shorts” too. The real name is one word, not two. On the App Store, its seller is New Leaf Publishing. Make sure of that before downloading.

What are ReelBox, DailyShort and GoldShort TV, exactly?

All three are small, unrelated apps. ReelBox, found through “reel box” or “reelbox tv”, has 50K+ Android installs. It is not linked to ReelShort or DramaBox. DailyShort, which people often type as “daily short”, has 100K+ installs. GoldShort TV, an Android TV app, has 10K+ installs. Most searchers are likely looking for GoodShort.

Is ShortTV the same as ShortMax?

Very likely, but unconfirmed. SHORTTV LIMITED in Hong Kong is ShortMax’s legal entity. Its website forwards to ShortTV’s site. Each went live in September 2023. No official rename announcement turned up. A search for “short tv” or “short max” also brings up unrelated apps.

Can mod APKs and coin generators be trusted?

No, and none are official. Modified app copies from outside official stores are what mod APKs are. One look-alike of DramaBox calls its download an unofficial modified version. Coin generators are likewise unofficial. You cannot check what they do. Only use official stores and websites.

Why is ReelShort’s Trustpilot rating low?

ReelShort’s Trustpilot page shows a score of 1.3 out of 5 based on 250 reviews. Reviewers frequently complain about charges after cancelling. Weekly auto-renewals are mentioned often. Others complain about coin prices and denied refunds. Any review site reflects people who chose to post. Use it as a list of things to check rather than a verdict.
